About Puncak Jaya
The highest mountain in Oceania and the highest island peak in the world. Also one of the Seven Summits. It had one of the few tropical glaciers in the world which has now almost completely melted. Located in Papua (formerly Irian Jaya). The Carstensz Glacier has shrunk 80% since the 1940s. Access requires permits and often a helicopter.
