About Eiger

Famous for its 1,800 m North Face, one of the most dramatic and dangerous walls in the Alps. It has killed over 60 climbers. The 1936 attempt was one of mountaineerings greatest tragedies, immortalized in The White Spider. The north face was first climbed in 1938 by a German-Austrian team. A railway tunnel runs through the mountain to the Jungfraujoch station.
