The biblical mountain where Moses received the Ten Commandments. Also called Jebel Musa (Mountain of Moses). A monastery at its base dates to 527 AD, one of the oldest continuously operating Christian monasteries. Thousands of pilgrims climb it annually to watch sunrise. The Steps of Penitence have 3,750 steps.
