About Chimborazo
Because the Earth bulges at the equator, Chimborazos summit is the farthest point from the Earths center, making it the closest point to space on Earth. Edward Whymper, who first climbed the Matterhorn, made the first ascent. It is an inactive volcano. The summit is 2 km farther from Earths center than Everest.
