The Seven Summits: Climbing the Highest Peak on Every Continent
The Seven Summits are the highest mountains on each continent: Everest (Asia 8849m), Aconcagua (South America 6961m), Denali (North America 6190m), Kilimanjaro (Africa 5895m), Elbrus (Europe 5642m), Vinson (Antarctica 4892m), and either Kosciuszko (Australia 2228m) or Puncak Jaya (Oceania 4884m). Only about 400 people have completed all seven. The Bass list uses Kosciuszko while the Messner list uses Puncak Jaya.
Reinhold Messner was the first to complete the Messner list in 1986..
